Good Morning!
Posted by Darla
Just a quick note about last night. After dinner we were taken on a walking tour of Bethlehem by three American young people who live here. It was amazing to think we are walking around Bethlehem! They took us to the wall separating the Palestinians. There are a lot of writings and pictures on the wall demonstrating the frustration of its presence. As we walked a search light from a look out tower swept over us. We were told that Pal. have to arrive at the check point as early as three in the morning in order to get across so they can go to work. To travel just ten miles, they will have to go through as many as nine check points. Once again we are reminded of how blessed we are and how much we take our freedom for granted.
We then went to a little shop owned by a friend of the students. He was a wonderful man. He immediately ordered tea for us and we had a great time. When we left he warmly greeted us to his homeland and gave each of us an olive wood ornament.
The walk continued to some scenic “over looks” into Israeli settlements and then back to the College. To bed around 10:00.
Today we are told President Bush will visit Bethlehem, they anticipate it will be in the morning. We will begin our “sessions” here in the College.
Blessings,
The Team
