Greetings from Prudeks

This is our second day in Prague. It is still cloudy and a little chill in the air.
Yesterday we had a wonderful time with Kelly and Fred (they send greetings to you, Shirley!). We first spent time in their home, which is just two blocks from where we are staying. Fred went over quite a bit of Czech history to “set the stage for our day.” We then traveled by minivan to a small village outside Prague where they are planting a Church. It is a village that used to be a Russian Base. It was amazing to see the contrast of deteriorating barrack buildings which are now being turned into apartment buildings. A really moving time was inside their “house of culture” which housed a huge mosaic wall. Fred pointed out to us the significance of the family in the middle, the heritage from the east and the “foe” to the west. We stood and prayed for this village which has such a stigma to the Czech people (no one wants to say they live on this former base) and that God would enable them to “plant” a light in the darkness. A new “sports center” has been built and this is where the new Church will have its first service this coming Sunday. Fred and Kelly are gone today and tomorrow meeting with the “key” people who will be in this Church. Pray for them.
We then visited the former airstrip where huge bunkers “hid” their airplanes.
We walked all over downtown Prague with Prudeks last night and enjoyed a Czech dinner. They taught us how to use the tram and metro service and today we are on our own. Sue is our navigator and we haven’t gotten lost yet!
We have decided to stay here another night and return to Berlin on Saturday, by way of a concentration camp in Czech and a stop in Meissen, Germany to visit a porcelain factory. Tomorrow night we’ll be back at the Hotel in Berlin, near the airport, and fly out Sunday morning.
