Saturday/Ukraine

Greetings from Kalinovka! This is my third time trying to write a post and I keep getting kicked off, so I will try to type faster and pray it stays long enough.
Yesterday we went to Kiev with Pastor Igor, Ala (leader of AWANA) and Sasha. With money sent from First Cov we were able to purchase a lot of materials for the youth, Sunday and School and adults. Pastor was also able to purchase study materials for himself. They were so thankful for these additions to the “library” here. We also bought a lot of children’s videos as well for for the adults. For those of you who know Pastor Sergey, we ran into him there and also purchased a study book that Igor said he needed but could not afford. He was also very thankful. At the end of the trip we were able to sit with Ala and ask how we could pray for her. It was a sweet time of sharing and prayer. She works so hard in the Church here with the young people and needs more help.
Today we have a “free” day. Keith is wallpapering with Vicka in Igor’s new house. They have not moved in as yet, but hope to very soon. I went to visit Era the wife of Dr. Vitaly. She speaks some English and is home all the time with her little girl. She very much wants company. We had a good time of fellowship and then went for a walk.
This afternoon I have been cooking with Nina and we have had very good conversation.
Tonight we will go to Valodia and Era’s for shish-ka-bobs.
Tomorrow, Sunday, we will worship together in the morning and then there will be another Ladies meeting in the evening. I will be preparing and serving the food as they have invited a lady from a University in Kiev to come and speak with the ladies.
The weather is cold here, but our hearts are warm with the love from our dear friends. Please pray that we can continue to be an encouragement to them.
Everyone sends greetings to the “past” teams.
I will try to update again tomorrow. Thank you for your prayers and giving us the opportunity to be your eyes and ears here in Ukraine.
Love,
Darla
